Soul legend Patti LaBelle returns to Newark's New Bailiwick of jersey Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Feb. 12, with Valentine's Day just around the corner.

LaBelle discussed how, in collaboration with musical manager John Stanley, she's able to craft a set list from a career that's spanned more than half a century of song.

"Before each show, we'll make a list of songs that we're going to do and so, this is actually weird, I accept (Stanley) become and peek at the audience and meet if they're older people, young people, all white people, blackness and white," LaBelle said. "and then I accommodate some of the songs depending on who's in the audience.

"Because I'll say to myself, 'That person's 75, they don't want to hear this, they don't want to hear that,' so we change (the programme) a bit once we see the audience."

LaBelle tells united states she recently completed piece of work on a jazz-leaning album, due in May. The Philadelphia-native LaBelle also confirmed that she's been talking with two fellow former members of her striking-making group Labelle — Trenton'due south Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx — most the possibility of a reunion.
